As the chapters progress you find yourself connecting the knowledge of the current chapter with that of the previous chapters you have read and realizing that your understanding is becoming well rounded.
Another aspect of the textbook that was amazing was its use of case studies. Throughout the entire textbook there were study cases that brought situations or current events to the forefront in an attempt to give readers examples of what they were learning. Using current events was a great idea in my opinion because it brings things into context for the reader without the reader having to look up the events of the past in order to understand the knowledge being taught. Some of the study cases were also meant to be thought provoking. They were meant to raise a debate and make the reader really have to use the knowledge he has learned to pick a viewpoint and side and coherently be able to defend it.
The last aspect of this textbook that I believe makes it worth reading is that it is written by an accomplished and knowledgeable professor. Ferid Azemi has earned two degrees from two different colleges, one a bachelor and one a master and corrently doing doctoral, both in criminal justice and public policy and administration. Though his degrees were in criminal justice he had an emphasis of criminology. Also included in his many writing were many articles on the subject. Azemi seems to love his work in teaching and tries to catch and hold the readers interest in order to keep them reading and wanting to learn.
First take into consideration Ferid Azemi's accomplishment, knowledge, and want to teach a student population on the subject of criminal justice. Then look at the structure of his textbooks and how conducive that structure is to the learning process of the reader.
