New York City, 1977

Disco. Gay liberation. The Son of Sam. Urban blight. It was a wild time in a wild city, and no one wanted to get wilder than a young man from a hick town in Missouri. Fresh out of high school, Richard Miller has come to the Big Apple to take a big bite of forbidden fruit.

But among the dark corners of the city's cruising scene stalks an ancient evil. It is hungry for virgin male flesh, and it knows just how to tempt a young man eager for thrills and new experiences. As Richard learns, this temptation threatens his new community, and even the city itself.

Darkest Desires City of Sinners Volume 1 Noah Harris Books

This is by far Noah Harris' best work! He has grown and matured so much as an author, which is evident by the way the story flows and builds. The details Noah provided really did transport me back to the late 70's gay culture. His research of the time period added so many levels to an already amazing story. I love how he introduced us to a much darker, edgier form of writing not seen by this author before. The story starts out with Richard anxiously waiting to leave his small, narrow-minded community he grew up in for the chance to finally be himself in the New York gay community. It then starts to build to the dark and thrilling world of cults and demons. There is even inclusion of the Son of Sam in the time line. This story drew me in so completely that I read it in a single sitting and then immediately read it again. This gritty story is not for the faint of heart. It does have some very dark moments and pushes at the boundaries of the sexual revolution. I loved the inclusion of the Everard Bath House and Noah's twist on the fire, while maintaining the emotional aspect of that very tragic event. I absolutely loved every word in this amazingly well written story! I cannot wait for the next installment in the series to see how this story and characters continue to evolve! You really outdid yourself with this one Noah Harris!

Darkest Desires City of Sinners Volume 1 Noah Harris Books Reviews

WOW, this was scary as hell (spirits, good and evil), I should write a book! Lots of people don't believe in evil spirit's, but I know for a fact they are!, So I had to stop after his first encounter, to work up the nerve to finish this first book! I liked the out come, so I'll read book #2. See you in a book! 🍯 Honey Bee 🐝📚💙🎶
PS. Your still one of my favorite Authors! 🐝🎶
I went into this not remembering it was paranormal & it was unlike any paranormal I have read before. Young man comes to NY thinking he'll find a city that will welcome him with open arms & finds more than he bargained for. Noah Harris was able to remind us of what the gay life style was in the 70's & add a demonic twist into the mix.
Imagine it, an 18 year old naive country boy makes his way from nowhere Missouri to NYC where he finds a gay community that readily accepts him since he's the irresistible Mary Sue of this tale. He goes from virgin who's barely seen another man naked to a full fledged sl*t and because he's such an innocent country boy (he never lets you forget where he came from) he fumbles his way through every encounter. Amid the grammatical errors there's the leggings of an interesting story. It's just a shame that it got bogged down in its own nonexistent lore and an abundance of sex that reads as a high school student's overactive imagination at work. This was not a book for me, too much sex, not enough story.
Oh hell yes!!! Guess who slept with the light on, for two nights, that's how much Mr. Harris's writing effected this reader! I just got book two and will have to sleep with the light on again I'm sure... What a fantastic read, Mr. Harris has such a great knack in creating the most believable characters and the craziest scary scenario's I have ever read. This type of genera is not my normal read, but after reading the synopsis and the the other reviews; I had to get the book and boy am I glad that I did! However, this time when I begin book two, I won't be starting it after dinner. This time it's gonna be a day time read. Ok you all can stop laughing now, I'm just a woose when it comes to these kinds of stories, but I gotta say again. What a great book and I am looking forward to book two.
Congratulations to Noah Harris on another good book. I was delighted at how the realistic setting Noah provided for a novel set primarily in 1977 New York after the book began in rural Chillicothe Missouri. Having grown up in Ohio I knew that Chillicothe Ohio was its first and third state capital. I checked to see if Chillicothe Missouri exists and was pleasantly surprised to see that it does. The 18-year-old protagonist Richard Miller can't wait to escape the bigotry and oppressiveness of his small town and heads to the Big Apple. This is a coming of age story with dark overtones and graphic scenes. I loved following Richard's journey and how his newfound friends had his back when he desperately needed their support.
Noah Harris did it again with an amazing story about a man's darkest desires and the journey of self discovery that they lead him on. This book pulls you into the life of Richard from the very beginning and keeps you hooked until the end. There is such an intriguing mix of daily life ( for a gay man in New York in 1977) and supernatural elements that you are never quite sure what is real and what is delusion until the ending.
I will be impatiently waiting for the next book in the series.
I loved it from beginning to end. It started off tame and then went wild and dark. Not my typical book but I loved it none the less. Noah has a way of drawing us in then keeping us their. It is dark but u will not be disappointed in giving it a try. I didn't put it down. It's was that good. So come on take a walk on the dark side!!!
